WASHINGTON, June 21, 2007 – Bank of Georgetown, a community bank chartered in Washington, D.C., has hired Vincent C. Burke III to serve as managing director, business development and counsel.

A native of Washington, D.C., Burke has nearly 30 years of law and business experience, most recently as a partner with the Chevy Chase, Md.-based law firm of Furey, Doolan & Abell LLP. His practice encompassed general corporate matters, closely held businesses, commercial real estate, trusts and estates, financial institutions, employment law matters and education, including work for the Archdiocese of Washington.

Burke was previously a partner at Reasoner, Davis & Fox and of counsel with Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay, both in Washington, D.C. He also was special counsel to the Commissioner of Baseball from 1989 to 1992. Earlier in his career, Burke served as a political appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Economic Development Administration and the International Trade Administration and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edward A. Tamm of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Burke is an active leader in numerous professional and charitable organizations that support the communities he serves. He is chairman, president and trustee of the Clark-Winchcole Foundation; vice president and trustee of The Supreme Court Historical Society; and a member of the board of directors for several area nonprofits, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, the Center City Consortium and the Christ Child Society.
Burke also held many former leadership roles with a variety of notable local charities and educational organizations, including the D.C. Division of the American Cancer Society, Associated Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, Society of The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Georgetown Preparatory School and Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School.
He is a member of The District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland. Burke earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross and a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.
